Laura Keverian Pitts
A native of Altadena, has been a music educator in the Pasadena area for over 25 years. She began her teaching career at Pasadena Christian School, followed by twenty-one years at Polytechnic School, and is currently teaching music at Don Benito Fundamental School in Hastings Ranch. Laura is also on the music faculty at Azusa Pacific University and Cal Poly, Pomona. Laura is a graduate of Biola University where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music. She also received her Artist Certificate in Conducting through Choral Music Experience, studying with Doreen Rao and Janet Galvan. Laura has also taken graduate courses at Butler University in Indianapolis with Henry Leck, Azusa Pacific University, and California State University in Los Angeles with Donald Brinegar. She is regularly requested to serve as a choral festival adjudicator and clinician, and has been a guest conductor and workshop presenter for several music organizations around Southern California. Laura is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Southern California Vocal Association, the Kodaly Association of Southern California, and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators. Laura was formerly a member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Paul Salamunovich. She currently sings with the Donald Brinegar Singers, with which was a founding member along with her husband, David. Laura also has two daughters, who are proud to be founding members of PaGE.
A native of South Pasadena, has been a music educator in the Pasadena area for almost 20 years. He began his teaching career at the Temple City School District and Rosemead High School, followed by eleven years at Marshall Fundamental Secondary School where, after over 20 years with no choral program, built 6 choral groups with over 200 students. He is currently teaching music at Gabrielino High School in San Gabriel. David attended Pasadena City College and is a graduate of Cal State University Fullerton where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music, studying under John Alexander. He has also studied conducting at the University of Nevada, Reno and California State University in Los Angeles with Donald Brinegar. David is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association and Southern California Vocal Association. He currently sings with the Donald Brinegar Singers, with which was a founding member along with his wife, Laura. David also has two daughters, who are proud to be founding members of PaGE.
